Hindustan ( Bharat or India) was under foreign oppression and it was Shivaji Raje who could withstand this and bring in order to establish “Hindavi Swaraj “
Inspiration:
He drew his inspiration from bhagwan shri Ramaji , bhagwan shri Krishnaji and Rajputs of Mewars. He was inspiration for generations down the line Marathas, Rajputs (Chatrashal, Bundela, Durgasingh Rathod etc), 1857 revolt (Rani Laxmibai, Tatya Tope etc ), Tilak, Netaji Bose and indian revolutionaries (Veer Savarkar, Chandrasekhar Azad, Bhagat singh).
Maharaj Shivaji always had broader – All India vision for his empire. This vision was passed on to next generation resulting in a big Maratha empire.
Peoples King :
Maharaj Shivaji cared for his subjects and army. He had clear instructions to his army on not to loot the subjects , not to molest women.
His followers came from various communities – Marathas, Brahmins, Prabhus , backward classes and Muslims. Idea was to create “Hindavi Swaraj “ he treated his subjects equally irrespective of creed. This is what is called “Ram Rajya”.
Man of character:
Maharaj Shivaji was character at par –
- Head (Patil) of vill age Ranjha raped a woman. Young Shivaji arrested Patil and ordered to permanently strip on his eyes so that he can't see a woman again. Also his hands and legs were cut down. This was a severe punishment for such offence in 16 th Century.
- Muslims rulers have a long history of torture and molestation of women. Shivaji never did same for with his enemies – during raid of Kalyan (1667), Shivajis men got hold of very beautiful daughter in law of Bijapuri Governor, Mulla Ahmed. They sent her to Shivaji as a gift. Shivaji , a man of character treated lady with respect and returned her back with due respect. He warned his men not to torture women or treat them as booty.
Do we have any king in history meeting all these standards? Its only shri bhagwan Ramji
